I recently vacationed to Rosemary Beach on 30A highway in Florida, and I fell in love with the area. This scenic highway is home to many beautiful beach-front communities including Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside Beach, Watercolor Beach, and so many more! This short post is dedicated to must-see sites along the scenic 30A highway!
I was a guest on a trip to Rosemary Beach this summer, and I absolutely fell in love. I’d never been before, and I was so surprised by the intentionality of the community. Everything from the homes to the downtown to the retail and to the restaurants was perfect.
Dining: In Rosemary, I only went to a few restaurants, but they were all fantastic. I was on my last leg of the Whole 30 diet that I’d decided to do, so I was nervous about dining out. For the first few weeks of Whole 30, I’d eaten out very sparingly for fear of breaking the diet. Needless to say, these restaurants pleasantly surprised me in that they offered delicious meals within my diet. First of all, Havana in the famous Pearl Hotel was amazing. I went there on a date night, and they were so accommodating to me. They even brought me a dessert of fruit! The upstairs bar is also to die for! Secondly, I fell in love with La Crema in downtown. I (tragically) couldn’t have any of their famous chocolate dishes, but I still had a fantastic time. We ordered the chocolate fondue, and I only ate the fruit, but my date was obsessed with the melted chocolate. La Crema was definitely my favorite – I really loved the atmosphere! Lastly, I highly recommend Cowgirl Kitchen for quick casual. I loved their salad!
Retail: I loved the boutique in Rosemary called Willow. They had an amazing collection of clothes including Vince shoes and (THE) Marc Fischer wedges. They also had so many beautiful clothes that looked so perfect for the beach. I had to do a little bit of shopping there! I also fell in love with Bombora Sun and Surf. They have the cutest bathing suits! I didn’t spend a ton of time shopping since I spent most of my time at the beach, but I highly recommend these stores!
Below are some photos from Rosemary Beach including the downtown area, the beach, town hall, and more!
I can’t say it enough… I LOVE Alys Beach! This beach community is my favorite along 30A. It’s definitely a work in progress in that the community is still being added to, but I am absolutely obsessed. Their building code is such that all the houses are white except shutters and other accent pieces. Photos from Alys Beach always come out stunning because of how aesthetically pleasing this town is!
Dining: Fonville Press is my absolute favorite coffee shop maybe in the world. This picturesque coffee shop offers meals, snacks, delicious coffee, alcoholic beverages, and so much more. The exterior is so beautiful as well! George’s at Alys Beach also feels and looks like eating at a restaurant on Nantucket! George’s is a perfect experience for either lunch or for dinner. Caliza at the Alys Beach pool apparently also has great food! I have not eaten there, but the pool is to die for!
Retail: I did not shop a ton in Alys, but I really loved the selection of clothes from the Alys Shoppe in their main area!
Seaside and Watercolor:
I grew up going to Seaside and Watercolor, so these two communities have a special place in my heart. I did not spend a ton of time there this summer, but I have the fondest memories of visiting in the past! Seaside, FL is the first of all of these 30A communities, and it’s just that: a community. That’s the one thing that Seaside does so well: it’s truly a community. People actually live there, and you can tell by vacationing there. There’s such a feeling of community in this town!
Dining: I highly recommend Bud & Alleys for anything – they have a tapas location and a pizza location. They also have a rooftop bar that overlooks the beach! I love Ama Vida coffee for so many reasons. I believe they have the best coffee on 30A (there’s a location in Rosemary as well)! Cafe Thiry-A is also amazing. I went there while I was staying in Rosemary, and I was reminded of why I grew up loving it! The first “Another Broken Egg Cafe” is located a little outside of Watercolor, and it’s amazing. There’s a reason that this breakfast spot now has locations including Vinings in Atlanta, Buckhead in Atlanta, and Mountain Brook in Birmingham. The restaurant is perfect for breakfast and brunch!
Retail: The following is all me going off of memory, since I did not shop a ton in Seaside or Watercolor this time around. I only visited for a day this summer! I always love Perspicasity and Dejavu for clothes! La Vie Est Belle is the store that made the leather and pearl look famous. They continue to produce beautiful leather and pearl looks today! I look forward to going back to Seaside and Watercolor again soon!
I hope you enjoyed this little 30A Travel Guide! I highly recommend visiting any towns along this scenic highway!
